The Salvation Army Australia Southern Territory are re-launching youth and children's ministries under a new banner - 2Love.Our divisional website includes this statement:
"We're all about the two greatest loves - loving God, and loving others. You can't do one without the other! Trying to love God without loving others would be like wanting to go for a swim, but not wanting to get wet! Loving others comes with loving God - just like getting wet goes with swimming."
I like the pictorial language used here. It reminds us that Christian love is, above all, practical in nature. Love is never only an emotive feeling or theoretical concept, but a deeply practical expression that influences lives and situations for the better. Hence, the complimentary phrase "Love in action".
